About Health Information Systems Enterprise Architecture Division

The Health Information Systems Enterprise Architecture division is responsible for designing new information systems architecture for large healthcare enterprises. Managing a huge collection of legacy systems to support day-to-day clinical activities and implementing new rapidly changing information technologies into the operational environment at the same time is a massive challenge which many large organizations are facing. The group conducts research efforts to design new systems architectures and studies how new technologies might affect system performance.

To better evolve from theoretical studies to more quantitative assessment of systems architectures, the group is establishing a network system testing and validation facility and implementing systems architecture simulation capability. The Health Information Systems Enterprise Architecture group is also performing advanced prototyping in Grid environments focused on integration and interoperability across the full range of e-Health applications.
